This was the easier of the two pictures. You needed mainly the verbs BE and HAVE, and some other easy verbs. No very difficult vocabulary. Here is an example description.

This is a cute picture. There is a dog. He is a small dog. Maybe a kind of terrier. He is sitting on a mat. He is looking at the camera. The dog has a hat. The hat is black. It is tall. It is a gentleman’s hat. It is a top-hat. Also, the dog has a tobacco pipe. The pipe is in the dog’s mouth. Also, the dog has – not glasses. Glasses have two glasses, and glasses have arms. The dog has one glass. The glass has no arms. The glass is round. The glass is on the dog’s right eye. The dog looks like a little gentleman.

Dog, hat, pipe, and eye-glass. These are the picture’s main points.

By Teruko N, this is Shigeko’s favourite. Dog, hat, pipe, and eye-glass are all in the correct position. Teruko’s dog does not have a collar, but the collar was not a main point. The collar, the mat, the floor – these things are not very interesting anyway. Getting the main points is the key. Good job, Teruko! Yasuko K was the speaker.
